Middle Bass Island in Lake Erie is one of my favorite islands to visit.  It is quiet and peaceful and to be honest there is not a whole lot to do except admire the beautiful lake and flowers along the shore.  Middle Bass Island was originally called Isle de Fleurs by a sailing vessel filled with French missionaries who anchored off the island in the late 17th century.  They noticed the beautiful flowers growing along the island and nicknamed it Isle de Fleurs or Isle of Flowers.
